How We Work (back to main)

The ministry effort is governed by two boards:

New Faith Family Children’s Home Foundation was established in accordance with Philippine law, requiring four Filipinos and three expatriates, at a minimum, be involved in overseeing children’s home type organizations. Jeff Long answers to and is accountable to this local board.

Kids International Ministries was established to amplify a more “hands-on approach” in the involvement with the children and the lives of those serving in the ministry. Most of the KIM board members have been to the Philippines to serve in the children’s home multiple times, financially support and serve along side the Long family in loving the children, and have a relationship and know the ministry. Additionally, the board desires to care for the children and the on-going ministry if God should call the Longs home earlier than planned. This board will care for the Long family and see that the ministries are sustained.

The Kids International Ministries board is comprised of two directors:

Doug Bennett – Board Chairman

Doug is married to Angie (20+ yrs), has three children and resides in Lawrence, Kansas. Doug accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1972 and Angie in 1974. They are members of Vintage Church in Lawrence, Kansas—a church with a stated purpose of reaching college students for Christ and discipleship. Doug and Angie both serve in their church and at Veritas Christian School in the areas of athletics and Bible study. Doug and Angie have been to the Philippines five times in total to serve in the home and assist together on the KIM Missions Committee, which oversees short- and long-term servers going into the Philippines to serve in the children’s home. Doug works for an investment securities firm.

Marc Johnson – Secretary / Treasurer

Marc is married to Stephanie (16+ yrs), has two children and resides in Ozawkie, Kansas. Marc accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1975 and Stephanie in 1980. They are members of First Southern Baptist Church in Lawrence, Kansas, where they teach 5th and 6th grade Sunday school classes. Marc’s role in KIM is to oversee the financial systems, including tax and legal responsibilities, and is the keeper of corporate records. Marc and Stephanie both serve on the Finance Committee of KIM. Marc serves as President of the Board over Veritas Christian School, is on the board of Midland Care and Hospice, serves with Habitat for Humanity, and is a board member of Topeka Independent Business Assoc.
