Habitat Young Professionals Autumn Gala
The Habitat Young Professionals hosted an Autumn Gala on Oct. 21 to raise money for Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County. The event was held at the Millennium Center (a Gala sponsor) and included live music by Spare Change and The Dickens, a silent auction, heavy hors d’oeuvres, dessert and full bar.
This year's first annual HYP Autumn Gala was a huge success with 225 attendees! All combined, the ticket sales, sponsorships and silent auction items raised enough money to complete the Young Professionals House they are currently building for Dawana Benjamin and her son. Thank you to everyone who came to the event and who helped make it possible!
The Gala is one of the group’s fund raisers for the 2011 Habitat Young Professionals House. In addition to raising $65,000 to build the house, the group is providing most of the volunteer labor to build it. The house was started during Habitat Forsyth’s recent Labor of Love Building Blitz. Other significant donations thus far include a $10,000 matching grant from State Farm Insurance, a commitment of $25,000 from Summit Church of Kernersville, and an additional $15,000 from other sources.
