Education Changes Everything

While the numbers of Ugandan children attending primary school are increasing, only a small percentage continues in secondary school. Without completing secondary school, students face the same prospects of a lifetime of poverty as those who never attended primary school at all.

Students selected for the BMCF Education Program are partnered with sponsors who commit to supporting their education through secondary school. They plan to return to their communities to work as teachers, engineers, lawyers, and medical professionals. Several have already returned to work at BMMC  or to teach in local schools, while others attend medical or nursing school. These young men and women are the path to economic development and stability for the Rwenzori region. [link to About Our Students]

Education sponsorships begin at less than $350 per year and cover school fees and supplies for day school education. Ann Nyangoma, Director of the BMCF Education Program, places students in appropriate schools and works with their teachers to ensure that each child receives holistic care. Sponsors may stay in touch with students and receive news of their progress. Sponsors are also invited to Kasese to meet our students, visit the schools, and see the beautiful Rwenzori district of Uganda.
